This guy’s drumming is off the hook, and his bass is, too. This album has more of a delta blues vibe than his last offering, and both are fantastic. For someone as prolific as he is, his technical progression is notable. I’d love to see what this guy would do with a band.

This band is fantastic. They evolved into more of a Graveyard or Witchcraft doomy blues-rock sound, but on this, their debut, they had one foot firmly planted in metal. I think I didn’t buy this one a long time ago because I was so caught up in their other albums, but having revisited it I think I like it the best. The harder edge lends new weight to the desert/stoner genre at large.
